Waqf on Agenda on the World Islamic Economic Forum

Alhamdulillah, Waqf is now gaining more and more credence as the institution receives prominence on the agendas of Internatioanal conferences of the Ummah.  At the recent WIEF (4-6 December 2012) the important topic of Waqf was placed on its conference agenda, thanks (partially? ) to a humble request sent by Awqaf SA early in 2012.

This session focuses on the following issues:

  • Utilizing Waqf funds beyond real estate
  • Waqf and the establishment of public utilities: universities, schools, mosques etc
  • Legal obstacles and governance in developing Waqf properties
  • Developing an international framework for Waqf funds
