A 25-hectare smallholding in Daleside has become the focus of AWQAF SA where a borehole producing thousands of litres of potable water was drilled and set up with a pump and a storage tank. Farming is taking place on the site at the moment.

NGO’S BOREHOLES COME TO THE RESCUE IN LENASIA WATER CRISIS.

Trade unionist and former member of parliament Salie Manie authored a biography of his life, which was published by Awqaf SA as part of its Leaders and Legacies series.
Salie played a key role in the formation of SAMWU, which advocated for the rights of workers, as well as the formation of the SAHUC (South African Hajj and Umrah Council), which regulates Hajj Operators and seeks to have the interest of hajj pilgrims in South Africa.
He played a role in the new dispensation in a post-apartheid era during the Mandela and Mbeki era as a member of parliament.

On Sunday, 17 November, over 60 people gathered on a farm in Parys, to plant 800 pomegranate trees in the fertile red soils of the northern Free State. The initiative formed part of the fruit tree waqf campaign, where donors pledged R350 for planting fruit trees as a sadiqah jariyah (a charity that accrues benefits after death) in the name of a loved one.
