Life of Social Justice – Biography of R.A.M Salojee
300 biographies of Dr Rashid Ahmed Mahmood (RAM) Salojee were handed to delegates at the World Toilet Summit (WTS) held in Durban, South Africa two weeks ago by Awqaf SA. The gifts were arranged and presented by Br Rafik Bhayat who attended the WTS along with Br Dr Abdul Karrim Elgoni.
The biography titled “A Life of Social Justice”, authored by biographer and struggle stalwart Haroon Aziz, was first launched at a dinner organised by Awqaf SA in September 2010.
Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe was the guest of honour and delivered the keynote address. The Deputy President wrote the forward to the book.
The book was commissioned by Awqaf SA as part of its Leaders & Legacies project to record the lives and contributions of South Africa’s struggle heroes particularly from the Muslim Community.
A waqf /endowment fund was also launched in the names of Dr RAM & Sara Salojee for poverty alleviation, healthcare and education.
