SHARE THE CARE QURBANI 2021 – AWQAF SA, DIYANET VAKFI TURKEY, MJC & PARTNERS

Following Prophet Ibraham (AS) by sharing the noble sacrifice and 62, 000 kgs of food

Turkey’s Diyanet Vakfi and Awqaf SA partnered with the Muslim Judicial Council, MealSA and several local and international community-based organisations, including TURKSAY and the Imam Development Programme to distribute maize meal and meat packs to close to 10,000 vulnerable families across the Cape.

Sinan Yesildag (Turkish Consul Cape Town), Murat Karadag (Diyanet Turkey) & Mickaeel Collier (Deputy CEO Awqaf SA) handing out a meat hamper & Maize to residents in Parkwood.

Added to this, additional programmes took place in KwaZulu Natal, Bloemfontein, Gauteng and with Chief Zwelivelile Mandela, Royal House of Mandela (RHoM), Mvezo Komkhulu (The Great Place), the birthplace of the founding father of our democracy, Nelson Mandela.

We view the Qurbani project as a means of building dignity and social cohesion within our vulnerable communities. During this year’s Qurbani, 30 000 kg of meat was distributed alongside the generous donation from the food relief agency, MealSA, who gave over 32 000 kgs of maize meal.

“On behalf of Awqaf SA, would like to thank the Turkish Diyanet Vakfi, the Muslim Judicial Council, the Turkish Consulate General in Cape Town, the Royal House of Mvezo Komkhulu, Meal SA, TURKSAY, the Imam Development Programme, our donors and sponsors for making this massive distribution drive possible.”
