Awqaf SA conducts Mathematics Upgrade Workshops to improve the performance of grade 12 learners who are struggling with the subjects.
In South Africa, the formal educational sector’s statistics indicate a failing educational system.
The Educational Waqf Fund has been established to provide learners with resources to improve their chances of succeeding in the real world once they complete grade 12.
One focus area was offering a Maths intervention program, as learners were producing less than 30% in their Mathematics examinations.
Achievements
During our online maths workshop in 2022, there were 13 000 participants in our grade 12 workshop.
The online workshop that was hosted on Awqaf SA’s YouTube in 2022 enjoyed 30 000 views.
During our face-to-face in-person series of workshops, our Matric Mathematics Upgrade Project has reached over 6 000 matriculants attending township schools in areas such as Soweto, Ladysmith, and the Cape Flats.
3000 teachers across 5 provinces in South Africa benefitted from our Teacher Training Workshops
