Awqaf SA has an open door policy to people who wish to give volunteer their time, skills, expertise, or wisdom to any community development project or programme, or to serve on any of the organisation’s structures.Volunteers have played and continue to play a positive role in Awqaf SA. All its projects and achievements can be attributed to the sacrifices and time that volunteers have given.

These are discussed at volunteer training workshops held from time to time.
Definition of a Volunteer
A volunteer is anyone who, without compensation (in cash or kind) or expectation of compensation beyond reimbursement, performs a task at the request and on behalf of AWQAF SA. A volunteer MUST be appointed before the performance of the task. Though volunteers are not considered as employees of AWQAF SA, they are, however, indispensable to the organisation.

How do Volunteers Contribute?Volunteers may contribute in a variety of ways.Some examples are as follows:
Leadership: (Strategic planning, Drivers, Motivators, Idea originators and generators, leadership by example in task execution, forward planning and thinking)
Management: (Convenors, and Co convenors of various management functions (marketing [Sales, advertising, public relations, communications] investment, finance, HR, Corporate, International Relations, IT, Projects, in charge of the efficient and effective operational aspects of the organisation)
Project coordinators: (In charge of specific projects both short term (Tax Seminar, Wssd, and long term, (Riverlea, Vlakfontein, Emdeni, Kagiso etc)
Task Team Leaders: ( Leadership of specific tasks, standing committees)
Worker Bees: (members of committees, groups, teams, corps, who take on specific tasks individually or collectively within committees, teams, projects, etc)
Special Advisors and Consultants: These are experts who are appointed to advise on a number of issues.
Mutawallees: These act as custodians and trustees over the assets of the organisation. They are ultimately accountable for the whole organisation. Management is accountable to the Mutawallees.
Awqaf Ambassadors: These are brothers and sisters who actively assist in the marketing and promotion of the waqf system and the mobilisation of waqf donors.
