Each player had the opportunity to play in 3 games each, where equal opportunity and “on the go” coaching was provided for each player. The BBLCC coaches, together with the respective educators identified the talented players and encouraged them to join BBLCC in their respective age groups to enhance their natural ability.

Awqaf SA’s General Manager, Shaheen Hoosen encouraged the youth to start becoming young leaders amongst their peers, which would essentially produce better leaders for South Africa in the future. He also informed parents that this festival was also in memory of Imam Haron who was tragically murdered by the apartheid government.

The presence of Mr. Greg Fredericks, outgoing CEO of Central Gauteng Lions and the incoming CEO, Mr. Jono Leaf-Wright were appreciated. Their comments were that “an event of this nature is important for the development of cricket in Gauteng and allows for young talented cricketers, a platform to succeed at the game.” They congratulated BBLCC on hosting this event.

Mr. Mahomed thanked all clubs and schools who participated in this event. He expressed his thanks and gratitude to AWQAF SA, the main sponsor of the event; CASA Mia, for the biscuits; Hyundai Lenasia, for the bottled water and Mr. Gathoo, for the Krunch crisps. He also thanked the executives and volunteers of the BBLCC who contributed to the success of this event.

“Remember team work brings success.”
