Salie Manie, a former trade unionist, community activist and member of parliament, authored a book titled, “The Man With One Black Glove”, which covers his career as an activist, his involvement in SAMWU, as well his life as a politician.
This book is published by Awqaf SA as part of its “Leaders and Legacies” series, which aims to tell the story of community leaders who dedicated their lives to the liberation of marginalised communities.
A book launch took place at the Homecoming Centre at District Six. Muslim Views’ Farid Sayed was the moderator, Ambassador Mohammed Dangor, Dr. Naledi Pandor was the guest speaker, and Shafiq Morton was a respondent to Salie Manie’s address.
