The revelation of the Holy Qur’an to the Noble Prophet Muhammad ﷺ began circa 610AD in the cave of Hira’ on Jabl Nur near Makkah. 
 
In promoting Islamic Civilisational objectives, Awqaf SA along with our partner institutions is hosting a commemoration programme of the Glorious Quran titled LIVE THE QURAN – IGNITE YOUR CONNECTION WITH ALLAH. 

The LIVE THE QURAN programme has been introduced to commemorate the revelation of the Quran in so far as it has impacted mankind in every stratum of life. Awqaf South Africa has undertaken to host and assemble a broad-based global community initiative that would highlight the importance of the Holy Qur’an, its message for humankind, and its contribution to Islamic and world civilisation. 

THEME FOR THE LIVE THE QURAN
The theme for the LIVE THE QURAN Programme 2021 will embody the key elements of Revelation in terms of its impact on our daily lives and will be given life through these sub-themes:  

The Format:

• 4-6 hour live broadcast
• Quran recitation by some fo the best Quraa
• Discussions and presentations on the scientific contributions promoted by the Quran
• Book Launch related to the Quran
• Nasheed programmes
• Live chat to selected local and international scholars
• Calligraphy demonstrations.
