These seminars are to aimed at exposing the public to alternate perspectives and to allow individuals the opportunity to ask questions about key political issues related to Islamophobia, sharia’h and democracy, the Arab Awakening, Iran and Syria etc.

1) Friday, November 2nd, 7pm to 10.30pm
‘An Evening with Tariq Ramadan,’ a dynamic, interactive programme for everyone, which includes a discussion about living as Muslims within the South African context, the launch of his latest book ‘The Arab Awakening,’ as well as an intensive, open questions and answer session.
Cost: R150 including finger foods. (Students: R125 – only one booking per student)
2) Sunday, November 4th, 10am to 1.30pm
‘Challenges Facing Today’s Muslim Woman, and the Way Forward,’ a thought-provoking programme for women, which will focus on various pertitent issues including spirituality, priorities in the life of a Muslim woman, developing Islamic scholarship amongst women, and several other topics.
Cost: R150 including lunch. (Students: R125 – only one booking per student)
Registration and PRE-PAYMENT is compulsory for both programmes. Since Professor Ramadan’s programmes have been over-subscribed in the past, we strongly advise you to register and pay as soon as possible, as both programmes take place at the University of KwaZulu Natal Westville Senate Chamber where seating is limited to 160 delegates.

Our offices are in the basement of the NMJ Islamic Centre, take your car all the way down past the parking lot on the right. We are situated in the middle office. If you cannot make it at this time, call 084 921 5883 to arrange an alternative time at which to pay. Please inform the person collecting your payment, which programme/s you are paying for, and ensure he records it on the receipt.

Tariq Ramadan is Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani Professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies at Oxford University. He holds an MA in Philosophy and French literature and PhD in Arabic and Islamic Studies from the University of Geneva. His books include The Arab Awakening: Islam and the New Middle East; The Quest for Meaning, Developing a Philosophy of Pluralismand Radical Reform, Islamic Ethics and Liberation.
