Awqaf SA’s Mass Orphans Iftaar was hosted under auspices of the 1500 Legacy Project which aims at celebrating the Prophetic Legacy of kindness and care for orphans.
This year, the annual attracted up to 4000 comprising orphans from a network of orphanages across the Western Cape as well as those who came to break their fast in the spirit of community development.

Book Launch: Man With The One Black Glove – Salie Manie

Trade unionist and former member of parliament Salie Manie authored a biography of his life, which was published by Awqaf SA as part of its Leaders and Legacies series.

Salie played a key role in the formation of SAMWU, which advocated for the rights of workers, as well as the formation of the SAHUC (South African Hajj and Umrah Council), which regulates Hajj Operators and seeks to have the interest of hajj pilgrims in South Africa.
He played a role in the new dispensation in a post-apartheid era during the Mandela and Mbeki era as a member of parliament.

A book launch was hosted by Awqaf SA to celebrate the completion of the book.
